Located in the historical city of Prizren, the university of Prizren is set to be one of the best universities in Kosovo in the near future. The latest form of the university was established in 2010, however, actual establishment of it dates back to 1960s. it was first established as the pedagogical high school of the Prizren region, but later developed in to a higher education institute focusing on research in various areas.

The university has a well-thought statute, which acts as a controlling body over the university activities. It has prepared modern and up-to-date infrastructure in all its departments. The university is accredited by Kosovo accreditation organization, however, it is also controlled by European accreditation agency and keeps its standards high and in line with European standards.

The university is located in Prizren. It is the oldest city and the second largest city in Republic of Kosovo. It is a historical city located in southern part of the country. It hosts thousands of tourists every year and is considered as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Eastern Europe. There are 6 faculties at this university. More than 10000 students are currently studying at these faculties. The university offers programs in according to European classification in Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.

It consists of 40 classrooms, 9 laboratories, 3 libraries, 5 informatics centers and 4 amphitheaters.

The university contains one of the biggest and oldest libraries in Kosovo. The central library of the university consists of more than 600,000 books in different languages. Students can find new sources and old versions of all the books they need for any major they are studying at this university.

The university is a member of the Erasmus plus program. The university offers different programs every year by which students can join other partner universities under the name of Erasmus program. Several students join the university of Prizren to continue several semesters of their education at this university.

The city of Prizren can also be considered an advantage itself, since if offers various types of facilities to its inhabitants. It is a historical city and consists of tens of historical places.

Student life

The university is located in one of the most historical places in Europe, therefore emphasizes the importance of culture and social activities. It encourages students to not only join, but establish their own clubs. The university permits them to operate under the structure of the university statute. Since the university is a very young university, there aren’t many student clubs active now, but with this permission, the number of clubs is expected to multiply in the upcoming years.

Since Prizren is a historical city, it contains tens of valuable historic sights. Hence, to preserve the culture of the region, the university tries to educate students who are from Prizren or other areas in the region about the history of the city. For this reason, various visits are organized monthly to different sights of the city.

Academic involvement and conference participation get its share of the university budget every year. All student and staff of the university can take part or even plan on holding a conference in their respected fields. The university tries to support them as much as it is possible financially.

Weekly visits to different places in the city are also quite popular at this university. Student pay visits to children’s hospitals, small villages, handicapped people’s houses and etc. in order to provide emotional support to them.

Prizren university is one of the youngest universities in Kosovo. However, in its short history, it has developed considerably a lot and curved a place for itself among the best universities of the country. Edurank website has placed them on the 13^th spot on the list of top universities in the region. It has also ranked Prizren the 9071^st best university in the world.

Faculty of Law:

The university prioritizes law education and puts a lot of emphasis on this program. It is one of the most important, and at the same time, most popular programs of the university. The program is offered only in Bachelor’s level. The university seeks international cooperation opportunities and tries to bring in experienced professors from other universities to enhance the educational program.

Faculty of Education:

This faculty is the oldest faculty of the university and its establishment dates back to 1961. It offers programs in Bachelor’s level in three languages, Turkish, Bosnian and Albanian. There are two types of programs offered in each language, the primary program, which educates labor for Kosovon schools, and the pre-primary program, for the developing pre-school education.

Faculty of Computer science:

This faculty is one of the leading faculties of the university and offers programs in Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. The faculty offers courses in 3 languages, Bosnian, Albanian and Turkish.

The university admits students via an entrance exam. Documents required for the exam registration are as followed:
